There are two main kinds of Chimneys that can be serviced – Ductless and with Duct. Hobs (flat top part of a cooker, with hotplates or burners) can also be serviced, whether it is for Gas or Induction.

Chimney servicing is very much required for the following reasons:
- If you are using Ductless Chimney then the Charcoal filters need to be changed every 3-6 months.
- If you are using Duct Chimney then the Baffle filters need to be changed usually once a year (and also depending on the size of the kitchen and the amount of cooking you do).
- If you are using mesh Aluminium filter, it will easily get congested with oil fumes. This filter has to be cleaned to let the smoke out. The cleaning frequency depends of the amount of cooking you do.
- The blower shield has become dirty and needs to be cleaned.
- The exterior of the chimney hood can accumulate grease and dirt. If not cleaned it will look dirty and may even become hot.
Finally
In bigger kitchens where there are lots of cooking and lots of smoke and oil build-up in the Chimney, an AMC is recommended for the cleaning and servicing than doing it yourself.
For Hob cleaning, make sure only non-toxic liquid is used. And in case of gas Hobs, make sure minimal water is used for cleaning otherwise the water may get into the burner, which will prevent the burner from firing up immediately.
